Brighton

Brighton has a small population, giving the area a suburban outlook and atmosphere. 
Currently, it enjoys the status of an incorporated city in Livingston County.

Food

Eating spots are varied and extensive in the area. Try the local favorites such as Brighton Bar & Grill, Ciao Amici, Stillwater Grill, and other similar spots for an excellent local cuisine experience. For excellent breakfast options, try Cheryl’s Place or the Breakfast Club. Thai Express and Wong Express House are great budget eating options as well. Most people prefer American cuisine. However, there are many options for people interested in Chinese, Italian, and Indian food.

Outdoors

Many different activities can be done outdoors. You may reach out to The Arcade for fun activities with your children. The Single Barrel Social offers great eating options and an opportunity to connect with the other people in the area. Similarly, the imagination station is an excellent park to relax and spend time with your family. Some people prefer taking a walk at the Mill Pond. If you are into riding, the Brighton Recreation Riding Stable offers you an excellent option to ride and enjoy yourself. For pinball players, the Pinball museum offers a great enjoyment spot as well.

Art/Culture

The Brighton Arts and Culture Commission meets regularly to plan out activities and different cultural exhibitions in the area. Their schedule of the meetup is present on the official city website as well. The continental climate in the area with its wide-ranging climatic effects means that different clothing, food options, and living styles are spotted throughout the year. You may find warm summers contrasted by heavy snowfall in the winters. Therefore, the cultural preferences vary in the city at a similar pace as well.

Canton

Canton is one of Michigan’s fastest-growing communities with a population of over 90,000, and with good reason! It is home to vibrant arts and culture, upscale shopping and dining, a vast array of entertainment and recreational opportunities, and much, much more.

Canton offers a wide variety of traditional restaurants, as well as unique specialty restaurants, featuring a diverse array of cuisines for every taste.

Art/Culture

The Village Theater, a 400-seat premier performing arts center at Cherry Hill, is a multicultural community events center operated by Canton Township. Canton locals often visit this cultural gem to take in a live show, art exhibit, or live concert.

Commerce

The Charter Township of Commerce is known for its permanent residents over time due to the great recreation facilities and the unique blend of rural/ urban culture that the town provides.

Food

Many different eating spots are present in Commerce as tourists often come to the area. A Matter of Taste offers high-end American cuisine. Other similar options include Uptown Grille, Kickstand Brewing Company, and CJ’s Brewing Company as well. For people on a budget, great food and services are offered at places such as Lulu’s Coney Island, Biff’s Coney Island, and Panera Bread as well. If you are into places that offer mixed cuisine options, try Benstein Grille, the Breakfast Club Restaurant, and Smoke Street BBQ. Most people in the area prefer American cuisine options. Therefore, niche cultural restaurants are scarce in Commerce, MI.

Outdoors

Being in Commerce, MI, is like being in recreational heaven. There are many things to do in the area, and you can easily find an activity that suits your mood. For example, people prefer the Glenlore Trails for hiking purposes. Similarly, Paradise Park is a great spot for picnic and family fun. Like most other areas of MI, golf is a part of the outdoor culture in Commerce. Similarly, bowling alleys on Wonderland Lanes usually attract a lot of people.

Farmington Hills

Not only does Farmington rank as the 36th highest income place in the United States, but it also ranks as the 14th best city to live in America. With nearly 80,000 residents, Farmington Hills is packed with fun and engaging things to do with both family and friends. These include a gorgeous, recently renovated downtown area, a vintage cinema, a wide array of restaurants, exotic car dealerships, art galleries, and Heritage Park. To add, there’s also the Holocaust Memorial Center, which is the only Holocaust Memorial in Michigan.

Farmington Hills offers a wide variety of traditional restaurants, as well as specialty restaurants featuring a diverse array of cuisines for every taste.

If you consider yourself an outdoors person, you will love exploring the famous Heritage Park as well as experiencing the gorgeous, newly renovated downtown area. While you’re outdoors, don’t forget to check out the Woodland Hills Nature Park for walking trails where you can see wildlife up close!

Art/Culture

For lovers of everything art and aesthetic, Farmington Hills provides a number of elegant art galleries as well as a classical vintage cinema. To add, Farmington Hills is home to Michigan’s only Holocaust Memorial Center, which was built to educate the public on the tragedy of World War II.

Grosse Pointe

Shopping

The Village, a unique three-block retail district on Kercheval Avenue, is home to some 40 stores and businesses that offer everything from sophisticated adult and children’s clothing and jewelry to antiques, pet items, toys, art and paintings, frames, gifts, personal technology items, prescriptions and other everyday goods and services. Additional shopping is also available on Mack Avenue and on Fisher Road.

Education

The Grosse Pointe Public School System, shared with five neighboring towns, has a long tradition of academic excellence. It is consistently ranked among the top K-12 school systems in the nation. The system features top-notch facilities and resources – including a planetarium and access to a statewide computer network for research. Grosse Pointe schools also boast a highly trained staff –  more than 80% of classroom teachers have earned a Master’s Degree or higher.

Livonia

If you’re searching for a well-established, conveniently located, mid-sized city, then Livonia may just be the place for you. With a population of right around 100,000 people, Livonia is the third-largest city in Wayne County and the ninth-largest city in Michigan. And though it may still feel like a small town, you’ll be able to explore upscale restaurants, movie theaters, two major shopping centers, three municipal libraries, and even a state-of-the-art recreation center.

Make sure to check out Town Peddler Craft and Antique Mall as well as Laurel Park Place, two of Livonia’s most attractive shopping malls that offer products and services from all around the United States. Northville

Novi

Tollgate Farm from the mid-20 century is known as a beloved public spot. Additionally, Lakeshore Park, Ella Mae Power Park, Pavilion Shore Park, and the Huron River watershed areas are all-natural reserves where people usually visit for a picnic and an excellent time with their families. The largest Japan Festival held in Michigan is in Novi as well. Additionally, the Novi Civic Center hosts tournaments of games like baseball and softball as well.

Novi has a unique blend of culture with different ethnicities living in the area. Many people take part in the Backyard Axe Throwing League or Whirlyball tournaments. Such sports are a part of the local culture in the area. Most people in the area are followers of Catholic Christianity, with two main churches operating. However, a Hindu temple is present due to the significant Hindu local population as well. Most cultures combine to create a sub-culture in the area that everyone is happy embracing and practicing.

Plymouth

Charm and character best describe downtown Plymouth. Kellogg Park is at the center of downtown creating the feel of a historic town square. Downtown is filled with over 75 specialty shops, including fine jewelers, boutiques, art galleries, antique stores, candy shops, and many other great venues. The dining options range from high-end fine restaurants to unique little bistros to bars and outdoor cafes.

Recreation

From 16 beautiful parks, the YMCA, to gold courses, Plymouth, Michigan has everything you will ever ask for! Michigan’s four seasons allow a beautiful ever changing landscape and seasonal sports to feel right at home!

Royal Oak

Royal Oak is located along the Woodward Corridor of Michigan, giving it a unique blend of nature and human environments. Since the early 19th century, the area has survived and flourished into a thriving community.

Being in Royal Oak is like being in a foodie’s paradise. Try out the Carnitas de Puerco tacos at the Mesa Tacos and Tequila restaurant on Main street with your friends. For a great family experience, Café Muse is the right choice. Their grilled cheese is known around the area and has been a tourist favorite as well. Pinky’s Rooftop offers an innovative bar experience along with an exceptional view. You may visit the Inn Season Café or Jolly Pumpkin for a hip-hop eating experience as well.

The Red Oaks Nature Center allows you to spend time amongst the wildlife. Additionally, many kid-oriented activities are offered as well. Similarly, IRC at the TG3 is another great option for outdoor fun. Some people may enjoy ax throwing at Detroit Axe in Ferndale. The Royal Oak Farmers Market offers a quick and fun outdoor experience. This Sunday flea market can also offer some of the best products you have been looking for at the lowest prices. Cranbrook and Booth Park both offer a great picnic and recreational experience for families.

Art/Culture

Nightlife venues are common in the area. Many people prefer visiting the Royal Oak Music Theatre and Landmark Main Art Theatre for a vivid nightlife experience. The known performance started their careers performing at these locations, including Tim Allena and Dave Coulier. Similarly, a large part of the Woodward Dream Cruise is also located in the area. As such, visiting the Detroit Zoo is part of Royal Oak’s leading cultural attractions and activities. Finally, many regional newspapers are circulating in the area, including the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, and the Oakland Press.

South Lyon

South Lyon is situated 20 miles to the northwest of Detroit. The area is known for the small-town charm it brings to a city environment. Shifting to the area gives you a unique blend of modernity and traditionality combined in one place!

For any resident of South Lyon, finding quality and tasty food shall never be a problem. The Lyon Grill is no less than a cultural spot in the area. West Bloomfield

West Bloomfield is separated from the Bloomfield township due to its diversity, affluence, and the great living experience it provides to the residents. The area has a prime location, making it a favorite amongst outsiders shifting to the state.

Both the dining out options and the nightlife of West Bloomfield are high-end. You may eat at the El Nibble Nook, a local classic and considered a must-visit for any resident in the area. You may hike at the West Bloomfield Woods Nature Preserve and Nature Trail or visit the TreeRunner West Bloomfield Adventure Park.
